Ludhiana teen raped, strangulated; missing father now accused

LUDHIANA:of the 18- The year- autopsyold Mundian report Kalan girl found dead at her house on Monday here has revealed that she was raped before being murdered. Still at large, her father, Pradyuman Singh ( 45), is now an accused. Post- mortem examiners Dr Mandeep Kaur and Dr Sunil said the swab from the victim’s body had been sent for the analysis to confirm sexual assault. The autopsy report has also revealed that the girl was strangulated before being hit on the head with a heavy object. The Jamalpur police booked Pradyuman on Tuesday on the statement of his wife that he had told her over telephone that he was their daughter’s killer. Jamaipur station house officer ( SHO) inspector Gurtej Singh has said that on Monday, a case against unidentified accused was made out on the statement of the victim’s brother. “Once Pradyuman picked up his mobile phone on Monday and we asked him about his whereabouts, he told us he was in Amritsar, but when we tracked his handset, the location came out to be in Chandigarh. He has since switched off the device. We have sent out teams to catch him,” said the SHO. The police are confident of tracing the murder weapon as well. Pradyuman Singh, a migrant from Bihar to said to be a factory worker, though his wife has told police that he doesn’t go to work regularly, since he is a drunkard.
