True richness and poverty are a reflection of our inner self
There are times when we measure our lives in monetary terms. For instance, how much we have earned; where have we invested and so on. These connotations almost define our life and not only this, even poverty is measured and defined.
During these assessments, we forget our ethics and responsibilities. We are poor if don’t have a commitment to ourselves. Setting goals and following them is a sign of the richness in us. Our best efforts to achieve ethical success make us rich. In addition to this, positive thinking leads to a positive life.
We are poor if we are flooded with negative thoughts and attitude. Negative thinking leads to failures and lack of confidence. Moreover, discrimination also leads to conflicts on the basis of religion, belief, cast and creed. This creates narrow thinking in our minds and makes us poor.
On realising our misdeeds, apologising makes us rich. Similarly, not helping others during a crisis reflects our poverty.
Finally, we are poor, if we are afraid to take risks fearing failure. Showing respect to others is a key to ridding the poverty from our inner self.
So, the answer to the question, do we want to get rid of poverty, lies within us. (Inner Voice comprises contributions from our readers. The views expressed are personal) innervoice@hindustantimes.com n
