‘Delay shows Modi govt’s anti-poor mindset: Jakhar
HE SAID THAT THE GST SHARE OF PUNJAB IS ₹3,500 CRORE AND THE DELAY IN ITS RELEASE IS ADVERSELY AFFECTING THE SOCIAL WELFARE SCHEMES OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT
GURDASPUR :Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president and Gurdaspur member of Parliament (MP) Sunil Jakhar said that the Modi government is pressurising the non-bjp-ruled states' governments by delaying the release of the goods and services tax (GST) share to states, besides misusing enforcement directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In a statement issued here on Sunday, jakhar said that instead of building its own image among the people of the country through its developmental works, the Narendra Modi government at the Centre wants to pressurise its opponents at any cost.
He said that the GST system was implemented in such a manner that it has crippled the industry and the trade of the country while, on the other hand, and by delaying the release of state share regularly, the Modi government is badly affecting the economies of the states, which is detrimental to the country's federal structure.
He said that the GST share of Punjab is ₹3,500 crore and the delay in its release, it is adversely affecting the social welfare schemes of the state government.
He said thus in way the Modi government is responsible for the delay in implementation of the schemes meant for the poor and the weaker sections of the state.
He said that the Modi government has proved completely unsuccessful on the economic front and to hide its failures, now it is not allowing the Congressled state governments to function properly as well.
Similarly, ED and the CBI are also misused by the Modi government against non-bjp state governments, Jakhar added.
