HISAR: Lashing out at the BJP, senior Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Singh Chautala said the government failed to keep every promise it made in 2014. The leader of opposition was addressing a ‘jail bharo’ agitation by the INLD and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Hisar on Friday.

Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Paramjeet Singh Chahel said that they have received court arrest documents of 41,637 persons from the state who were arrested and later released.

Abhay said the INLD launched this protest for early completion of the SYL canal. “The BJP government is delaying implementation of the Supreme Court directions of releasing water at Satlujyamuna Link (SYL) canal. But the INLD-BSP will fight against the state government for the farmers,” Chautala said.

“During 2014 polls, the BJP had promised that it will bring back black money but couldn’t bring a penny,” he added.

He also accused the BJP of betraying the farmers by going back on its promise of implementing the Swaminathan Commission Report. He assured the gathering that when the INLD-BSP alliance comes to power, the government will not only waive loans of farmers, but also implement the Swaminathan Commission report about fixation of MSP.
