THREE RUN OVER BY TRUCK IN SANGRUR
Three people were killed and four injured after a truck ran over them in Mauran village, 17km from district headquarters, on Saturday. The deceased are Sushil Kumar, 19, Jaspinder Singh, 22, and Harbans Singh, 21, all Mansa.residents .

PATIALA: Three people were killed and four injured after a truck ran over them in Mauran village, 17km from district headquarters, in the wee hours of Saturday. The deceased are Sushil Kumar, 19, Jaspinder Singh, 22, and Harbans Singh, 21, from Burj Dhilwan village in Mansa.
Investigation officer Karamjit Singh said the victims, all labourers, were part of a group returning from Jind in Haryana to their village. “They were standing on the road after alighting from their tractor-trolley that had developed a snag on an overbridge near Mauran village. The truck driver, coming from the Dirba side, failed to locate them and ran over them,” the IO said, adding that the three died on the spot.
The injured are all in their 20s and have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, Makhan Singh, Fakir Singh and Dilpreet Singh. They are admitted to the Sangrur civil hospital. Police said the driver and cleaner of the truck fled the spot.
A case has been registered under sections 304A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the IPC.
