Kamal Nath, Scindia make poll pitch
GWALIOR: Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath on Monday promised a pro-people government if his party comes to power in the state after the November 28 election, while Congress campaign committee head Jyotiraditya Scindia vowed one job to every household, a corruption-free Madhya Pradesh, loan waiver and full crop prices, as well as cancellation of all sand mining contracts.
They were addressing public meetings in Datia and Dabra, near Gwalior with Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
Scindia said, “Karza khatam, fasal ki poori rakam… Har yojna aapke dwaar, bandh hoga pradesh mei brashtachaar… Ab hogi Madhya Pradesh ki taraqqi, har ghar ek naukri pakki (Loan waiver, full price for agriculture produce... Every scheme at doorsteps, there will be an end to corruption... Now there will be development in Madhya Pradesh, and a job in every home).”
Scindia took a dig at chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Jan Aashirwad Yatra, claiming he had failed on all fronts. “There are around 10 million unemployed youth in Madhya Pradesh, the state has become the rape capital of India, the farmers are crying not only for adequate minimum support price but also for water and electricity,” he alleged.
Scindia also attacked the 15-year BJP rule in the state and said the time had come to throw away the ‘mukhota (mask)’ of BJP, which only believed in dishing out lies and false promises.
Highlighting the achievements of the former UPA government, Scindia said it had brought a medical college and polytechnic college to Datia, introduced several trains in the region and given work to farmers MGNREGA.
Nath claimed that the state was in despair due to BJP rule. “Be with the truth, vote for the change,” he appealed.
BJP spokesperson Deepak Vijayvargiya said: “Congress has only given misrule and corruption to the people. Instead of development, they had thrown Madhya Pradesh into darkness during their rule. People of the state are aware of these facts.”
