ROHTAK : A 28-year-old Sonepat woman has accused a head constable of raping her from past six years by threatening to upload her private pictures and videos on the internet. The woman said she was introduced to the accused cop through a friend and since then he had been raping her by abusing his powers of police.

In her complaint submitted at the city police station, the woman said head constable Dharambir took her to a city hotel on Thursday where he intoxicated her and forced unnatural sex on her.

The woman further said that in the last six years, she complained to the accused cop’s family about his behaviour, but they too misbehaved with her and beat her up. She stated that the accused had been threatening to kill her family members and upload her private pictures on the internet if she informed the police.

Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case against Dharambir under sections of rape, criminal intimidation and unnatural sex. The police have also booked four of Dharambir’s family members for assaulting the complainant. A friend of Dharambir’s has also been booked for stealing the mobile phone of the complainant. Suresh Kumar, the SHO of city police station said they have launched a probe and assured of an unbiased investigation. He though said previous records

showed the complainant woman had in 2014 accused a Karnal man of raping her on pretext of marriage. The man accused by the complainant was acquitted by the court nine months later.

“Nonetheless, a fair probe will be carried out and the accused will be made to join investigation,” said Kumar.

THE POLICE HAVE ALSO BOOKED FOUR OF DHARAMBIR’S FAMILY MEMBERS FOR ASSAULTING THE COMPLAINANT
