AMBALA: A woman and her fouryear-old son were found murdered at their home in Ambala, police said Friday.

The bodies of Nirmal, 50, and her son Dinesh, 4, were recovered from the kitchen on Thursday night, police said.

There were injury marks on the bodies, apparently made from sharp-edged weapons, the police said.

Nirmal’s husband Surinder Kumar Sachdeva, who is a cloth merchant, was out on a business trip to Nangal on Thursday. When he returned late at night, he found both of them dead in the kitchen of their house in the Ram Nagar colony.

Sachdeva informed his brother, who also lives nearby.

Deputy superintendent of police Ajit Kumar said a team has been constituted to investigate the crime. Forensic experts and a dog squad have visited the spot and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.

He said that it does not appear that the crime has been committed with the intention of loot.

The victim suspected to have been attacked when she was preparing meals in the kitchen and the child was playing nearby, he said.

A case has been registered against unidentified assailants and investigation is on, the DSP said.
