AMRITSAR: Defending Delhi chief minister (CM) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal over his statement, where he blamed the Punjab government for failing to control pollution and worsening air quality index (AQI) of the national capital, Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann Friday said, “He (Kejriwal) did not blame Punjab for the pollution in Delhi.”

Mann was here to inaugurate the poll office of Amritsar candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.

Replying to a query, Mann said, “Those who were present during the press conference addressed by Kejriwal in Chandigarh, know quite well that he did not hold Punjab responsible for the increased pollution level in Delhi.”

“Kejriwal had only said that the pollution level in Delhi increased suddenly after October 25. He made the statement as stubble burning is going on in Punjab.he only pointed out that the practice is the reason behind the pollution in Delhi on November 1,” said Mann.

Meanwhile, kicking off the campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann said, “The rest of the candidates will be announced by November end.”the party has announced five candidates, including Kuldeep Dhaliwal, so far.

From Sangrur and Fridkot segments, sitting MPS — Bhagwant Mann and Prof. Sadhu Singh — will contest the polls, while Ravjot Singh and Narinder Singh Shergill will be contenders from Hoshiarpur and Anandpur Sahib segments. The candidates for eight segments are yet to be announced.“we will raise the same issues this time as highlighted during assembly elections as nothing has changed in Congress regime.”

Taking a jibe on party’s rebel MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira’s statement that Delhi leadership imposed its decision regarding allotment of party tickets for parliamentary elections, Mann said, “Ticket for Bholath seat was also allotted by Delhi leadership.”

Notably, Khaira is MLA from Bholath segment in Kapurthala district. Replying to a query on the speculations about floating a different party by Khaira faction, Mann said, “Everyone has a democratic right to form their own party, but the public will decide about the success of that party.”
