Bear attack leaves woman critically injured in Dharamshal­a

DHARAMSHAL­A : A woman was mauled by a black bear in Khaniyara ward of Dharamshal­a town on Friday, leaving her critically injured.

The victim was identified as Sanju Devi a resident of Khaniyara ward.

The incident took place on Thursday when the victim had gone to a nearby forest to graze her goats. On hearing her cries, the villagers rushed to the spot and scared the bear away.

The injured woman was rushed to Dharamshal­a zonal hospital and was later shifted to Dr Rajndera Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda where her condition is said to be critical.

It is the second bear attack in the area in a month.

On November 2, a bear had attacked a woman in Boh area of Shahpur sub-division of the district.
