PM to inaugurate KMP e-way today

CHANDIGARH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the inordinately delayed 135-km Kundli-manesar-palwal (KMP) Expressway on Monday. Modi will also launch the Ballabhgarh Metro line in Faridabad and lay the foundation stone of Vishwakarma Skill University in Dudhola village, Palwal.
Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said, on Sunday, that the construction work on the KMP expressway had started in 2006, but the previous government could not complete it till 2014.
The contract with the concessionaire was cancelled in 2014. According to Supreme Court orders, the work on the project was handed over to a new contractor.
Khattar added that the Prime Minister would also inaugurate Mujesar to Ballabhgarh Metro line which would facilitate travel for the people of Delhi and Faridabad.
“Only the former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda or the previous concessionaire can tell why and how the work on KMP e-way got so delayed. Due to the long delay, the cost of the project has increased,” he added.
According to an agency report, the total cost of the Expressway was over ₹9,000 crore.
METRO LAUNCH: TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS PUT IN PLACE
Due to the launch of the Ballabhgarh Metro line in Faridabad, traffic restrictions will apply.
“In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, there will be restriction on the entry of heavy v ehicles for twelve hours on the Faridabad-gurugram road from 6am to 6pm on Monday,” assistant commissioner of police, traffic, Faridabad, Devender Singh, said.
Union minister of state for housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Krishenpal Gurjar would be present at the Raja Nahar Singh station, Ballabgarh, when Prime Minister Modi will flag off the metro service through video conference from Sultanpur in Gurugram.
“The actual flag-off ceremony will take place about 12.30pm on Monday,” Dharminder Singh, administrator, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), said.
In Palwal, where the varsity will be launched, Union minister of state for micro, small and medium enterprises Giriraj, Singh and Haryana industries minister Vipul Goel would also be present.
