BATHINDA : Public works department minister Vijay Inder Singla has said that central government is yet to clear the proposal for construction of road for the Kartarpur corridor.

Reacting to charges of Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal that Punjab government hasn’t yet acquired the land for the construction of corridor, he said Punjab government has sent proposal of road alignment for approval to the Centre and the land acquisition will start once the nod comes.

Singla was in Bathinda on Friday to administer oath of office to newly elected panches, sarpanches, zila parishad and block samiti members of the district.

“After laying of foundation stone for the corridor on November 26 last year, a team of central and state government officials visited the site and worked out four road alignments for the project,” he said.

“Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh has sent proposal of one of the road alignments to the Centre for approval. Let us not give it a political colour because I can understand that many departments including Union home ministry, external affairs ministry, army and border security force are involved,” he said.

He said that SAD leaders are making statements about the project on daily basis just to mislead the people.
