JAMMU : A day an army officer and a soldier were killed in an IED blast along the Line of Control (LOC) in Rajouri district, governor Satya Pal Malik on Saturday said Indian forces were giving a stinging response to provocations made by Pakistan who is now getting “frustrated” as it is unable to push militants into the state.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a function here Malik said, “Pakistan is not mending its ways but our forces are responding stingingly and instantly to any mischief undertaken by them. Infiltration is under control and Pakistan is very frustrated right now.”

Pakistan was against the panchayat polls and is now unhappy over its successful conclusion, Malik added.

Referring to Friday’s killing , the governor said, “Such acts demonstrate Pakistan’s frustration”.

The governor said that there is complete peace in the Valley and that security forces are defeating the designs of the militants with the support of the people.

Replying to a question on the resignation of Kashmiri IAS officer Shah Faesal who intends to join politics, the governor said it would have been good if he had continued in his service. He, however, wished him well.

“I wish him well but it would have been good, had he performed his duties. He didn’t fulfill his duty and I can’t say what he does in the times ahead. He was given honour by the government and he had a lot of work to do. It would have been good, had he performed his duty,” the governor said.
