PRE-SCHOOLING NOT FOR THE POOR
Apropos the article ‘Why preschools need to adopt innovative strategies’, there is a sizeable population of children in the 3-6 age group who are yet to attend pre-school. Even anganwadis, operating under the department of women and child development, cannot replace pre-school education which, psychologically and socially, is the most important stage in the life of a child. Sadly, pre-school education is accessible only to the rich. State governments should link pre-school or preprimary education with formal schools. S Kumar, Panchkula
