Boy ‘kills self’ af­ter de­nied tak­ing exam

DEHRADUN: A 17-year-old boy was found dead near his school in Thal vil­lage of Pithor­a­garh dis­trict on Satur­day af­ter he was not al­lowed to sit for a prac­ti­cal exam, po­lice said on Sun­day. Po­lice, in their in­ves­ti­ga­tion on Satur­day, held two teach­ers af­ter the fam­ily of the de­ceased al­leged that the boy took the ex­treme step af­ter he was scolded by teach­ers in school and not al­lowed to ap­pear for the ex­am­i­na­tion. Po­lice said the fam­ily had al­leged that the teach­ers were in an ine­bri­ated con­di­tion. How­ever, med­i­cal tests did not con­firm the same. Mo­han Vohra, in­spec­tor of Thal po­lice sta­tion, said, “On Fe­bru­ary 5, the boy went to school drunk when he was scolded and sent back home, where his father also scolded him and did not give food to him. Af­ter this in­ci­dent, on Satur­day he was told that he will be al­lowed to sit for the exam once the prin­ci­pal comes, but be­fore that he com­mit­ted sui­cide.”
