Boy ‘kills self’ after denied taking exam

-

DEHRADUN: A 17-year-old boy was found dead near his school in Thal village of Pithoragarh district on Saturday after he was not allowed to sit for a practical exam, police said on Sunday. Police, in their investigation on Saturday, held two teachers after the family of the deceased alleged that the boy took the extreme step after he was scolded by teachers in school and not allowed to appear for the examination. Police said the family had alleged that the teachers were in an inebriated condition. However, medical tests did not confirm the same. Mohan Vohra, inspector of Thal police station, said, “On February 5, the boy went to school drunk when he was scolded and sent back home, where his father also scolded him and did not give food to him. After this incident, on Saturday he was told that he will be allowed to sit for the exam once the principal comes, but before that he committed suicide.”
