One killed, 3 hurt in Bathinda liquor vend roof collapse

BATHINDA: A Malviya Nagar resident, Tarsem Garg, 60, was killed and three others were injured when the roof of a liquor vend caved in at the Amrik Singh Road on Sunday afternoon. The injured, Trilok Chand, Gurjant Singh and Daldeep Singh, have been admitted at the Bathinda civil hospital.

Chand was employed at the liquor vend.

Gurjant and Daleep were working to lay a new cemented roof on the already existing muddy roof.

The constructi­on of this new roof is believed to have caused the mishap. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel were pressed into service to ensure that no one remained buried under the debris.

A case has been registered under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code .
