STUDENT-POLICE CLASH IN KARNAL: THREE COPS SHIFTED TO LINES

-

KARNAL : Facing severe criticism for using force on protesting students of the Karnal industrial training institute (ITI), the district police have shifted three cops to the police lines.

As per the information, Karnal superintendent of police Surender Singh Bhoria has shifted constables Rajesh Kumar, Satish Kumar and Sukhdev Singh to police lines.

Though no specific reasons were cited for the transfers, police officials, on the condition of anonymity, told Hindustan Times, that the said cops were seen misbehaving with the ITI staff in the videos of the clash that went viral on social media.

Karnal sub-divisional magistrate Narender Pal Malik has started magisterial inquiry into the matter.

ITI principal Baldev Singh, who had accused the police of targeting the students and staff, has announced that the institute will remain closed on April 15 and 16 to ensure the investigation team could record staff members’ statement in students’ absence.
