AKALI DAL SANGRUR NOMINEE’S MOTHER SAYS SHE JOINED POLL CAMPAIGN WITH HER HUSBAND’S CONSENT

SANGRUR : Even as veteran Akali leader and Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa has distanced himself from poll campaigning of his son Parminder Singh Dhindsa, who is contesting from Sangrur on the SAD-BJP ticket, latter’s mother Harjit Kaur is toiling hard seeking votes for her son.

Ironically, senior Dhindsa had quit the party posts over differences with Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, former’s wife has no complaints against Badals. “I have no grievances against the Badal family. We never did a wrong with anyone and why one will think negative about our family,” said Harjit Kaur.

She leaves her residence at 8.30am daily and holds rallies and meetings in different villages of the constituency till 8pm, trying to convince people that her family has done a lot for the development of the region.

On Tuesday, she campaigned in Tapa area of Barnala district. Harjit said she joined Parminder’s poll campaign with the consent of her husband, adding, “Our family is united. There are no political or personal differences between us. My husband’s health does not allow him to venture out. How can one even think that I am campaigning without my husband’s consent?”

Lashing out at comedian-turned-politician Bhagwant Mann, she said the AAP leader won the last elections by misguiding youths.

“Mann wants to collect votes through jokes. Our family has been serving the people without any greed. It is interesting that Parminder is a widely-respected leader in the SAD, and is also popular among the Congress circles. He has been working round the clock for the area,” said Harjit Kaur.
