School bus driver held after 4-yr-old boy dies in K’shetra

Driver claims boy was sticking his head out of the window and was hit by tractor-trailer, leading to his death

KARNAL: THE driver of a school bus was arrested after a four-year-old boy was found dead in his bus near Mirzapur village of Kurukshetr­a district.

The deceased has been identified as Akshvir of Barwa village. Doctors state that the child died due to head injuries but police have not been able to establish how he died.

Talking to Hindustan Times, investigat­ing officer Sharmila Rani said, “Earlier, the bus driver said the child was sticking his head out of the window and tractor-trailer coming from the opposite direction hit him, which led to his death. But during investigat­ion, it was found that the driver was not telling the truth.”

He added that the driver had also wiped blood off the floor of the bus. The family members of the deceased, meanwhile, accused the school’s management’s of negligence demanded action.

Based on the boy’s father’s complaint, a case has been registered under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Indian Penal Code against the principal of the school and bus driver, Nafe Singh. The driver has already been arrested.

11-YR-OLD BOY KILLED AFTER CANTER HITS CYCLE IN MANESAR

GURUGRAM : An 11-year-old boy was killed after a canter allegedly hit his bicycle in Baskushla village in Sector 7 in IMT Manesar on Monday. The police said the canter driver abandoned his vehicle and fled from the spot after the collision.

According to the police, the incident took place around 7pm, when the victim was returning to his house in Baskushla, after purchasing some household items on his bicycle.

Satbir, station house officer (SHO), IMT Manesar police station, said the victim had reached near his village when a canter, which had a Haryana registrati­on number, allegedly hit his bicycle on the side.

“He sustained injuries and was rushed to the Civil Hospital by the villagers. The doctors declared him dead on arrival. The canter of the accused man has been impounded and raids are on trace him,” said SHO Satbir, who goes by his first name. A case was registered against the unidentifi­ed canter driver.
