HAD SHOT A VIDEO OF THE COUPLE AND WERE DEMANDING ₹50,OOO FROM THEM; THREATENED TO MAKE THE VIDEO VIRAL

ROHTAK : The Rohtak police have suspended two of its personnels for allegedly shooting an intimate video of a couple and then threatening to make it viral. The incident took place at Industrial Model Town (IMT) a few days ago in the city when the couple was sitting in their car at a secluded spot.

As per police sources, the accused cops allegedly shot the video of the couple and then demanded ₹50,000 to let them off. They threatened to circulate the video on social media if the money was not given.

The accused cops allegedly asked the couple to transfer the money via Paytm application. However, when the couple told the policemen they did not have the Paytm app, they were told to submit cash at IMT police station by evening.

Instead of giving in to the pressure of the cops, the couple approached Rohtak superintendent of police and filed a complaint. Rohtak SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa said he assigned the matter to a Dsp-rank officer and based on inquiry suspended the two cops who are of ASI and constable rank.

He maintained that the complaint submitted by the couple did not mention that the accused cops shot their video. “We got a complaint that the cops were demanding money and based on that action was taken and a departmental inquiry has been initiated. The policemen should have taken action against the couple as per law instead of demanding money,” Randhawa said.

Police sources at IMT police station, however, confirmed that the accused cops had also shot the video of the couple and harassed them. The police did not give the names of the cops who have been suspended.
