Amarinder: Harsimrat ‘most ill-informed woman’
SULTANPUR LODHI: Reacting strongly to Union minister for food processing industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s statement that the Congress government was trying to ‘weaken’ the Akal Takht, chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday said is the “most-ill-informed woman” he has ever come across.
“She is crazy to say that as Congress is attempting to undermine the Akal Takht,” the CM said on the sidelines of cabinet meeting in Sultanpur Lodhi. He termed her remarks “irresponsible and provocative”.
Harsimrat on Monday accused the state government of playing politics over the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak. “No true Sikh can think of showing disrespect to highest temporal seat of Sikhs,”he said, accusing Harsimrat for trying to “demean” the authority of the Akal Takht with her “reckless remarks”.
‘READY TO COOPERATE WITH GURDWARA BODY’
Amid the ongoing blame game between the Congress-led state government and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) over joint event to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the CM said: “This is not a political event and his government is ready to cooperate with SGPC on every aspect.”
“We are above from this and I wanted to take all along with us to organise the mega function. This is not a Congress vs Akalis or SGPC but this is a function to pay respect to our Guru. The government will support the SGPC in organising all religious functions inside the gurdwara sahib,” CM said, while welcoming Akali’s painting Sultanpur Lodhi white for gurpurb celebrations.
CM also said that he is also totally open to accepting the proposal of Akal Takht to constitute a joint commemoration committee. As per the proposal, two members each from the state government, the SGPC and a Sikh scholar being a neutral member would be drawn into the committee to evolve a broad consensus on this issue.
BADALS OBSTRUCTING BARGARI PROBE
Attacking Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Badal and former CM Parkash Singh Badal for allegedly scuttling the Bargari probe through the CBI, the CM said it was the duty of Bjp-led Union government to accept the state assembly resolution withdrawing the sacrilege cases from the national agency to the SIT constituted by the state government.
On appointment of political advisers, he said it was not possible for him to stay connected with the people on the ground, considering that the aspirations of those living in the state’s 12,700 villages, as well as the youth, also needed to be taken into account for policy formulation.
