CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday announced two free insurance schemes for traders, along with sops for few other sections.

Khattar said his government has launched a life insurance scheme for traders and registered goods and services tax (GST) payees, who would get a cover of ₹5 lakh in case of loss of life.

There are about four lakh traders in Haryana who could avail benefits of the scheme, he said.

Khattar also announced a property-loss insurance scheme for business firms and registered GST payees, under which the beneficiaries would get a compensation ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh in case of damage, fire, floods or any calamity. “Traders or firms would have to pay no premium for these schemes,” Khattar said, while adding that there are about 3.15 lakh beneficiaries in the state. With this, the Haryana government would have to cough up about ₹38 crore on account of annual premium to insurance companies.

AYUSHMAN SCHEME WIDENED

Announcing another health scheme for poor, Khattar said his government has decided to widen the ambit of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The CM further said that all dhanis (homesteads in fields), located even beyond 1km from villages, would get power supply through solar invertors.

SOPS FOR OTHER SECTIONS

Khattar also announced hike in salaries and perks for sanitation workers, employees of sugarmills, handicapped workers of power utilities and anganwadi centres.

KHATTAR STANDS BY HIS RALLY REMARK

Replying to a volley of questions pertaining to his ‘gardan kaat doonga’ remark which he made during his Jan Ashirwad rally, Khattar admitted that he did say that to a supporter.

Khattar had lost his cool when supporters tried to place a crown on his head even as he held an axe during a rally. He acknowledged that a video clip of the incident was being circulated and trolled by opposition leaders and said the same criticism would soon boomerang on them.

“If anyone, especially my party worker, tries to place a silver crown on my head, I will get angry and not tolerate it. We have ended this culture after coming into power,” he said.

“This supporter is well known to me,” he added.
