Unidentified gangsters booked for killing SI
SATINDERPAL SINGH, WHO WAS POSTED AT JANDIALA POLICE STATION, WAS FOUND DEAD IN OCTOBER 2018, POLICE HAD TERMED IT DEATH DUE TO ACCIDENTAL FIRING
AMRITSAR : A year after a sub-inspector (SI) of Punjab police was found dead at the Jandiala police post under mysterious circumstances, some unknown gangsters were booked for killing him on Sunday.
SI Satinderpal Singh, who was posted as in-charge of Jandiala police station, was found dead at the police post. Police officials had claimed then, that he had died due to accidental firing from his pistol.
But after investigating the complaint of the deceased cop’s wife—gurmit Kaur of Loharka Road in Amritsar—police have booked some gangsters under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian penal code (IPC).
“In September last year, my husband was posted in Jandiala. Before his death, he had told me that he had been receiving threats from gangsters as he had arrested many of them. He had been working very courageously and this had resulted in a threat to his life. On September 19, 2018, I came to know that he had died due to an accidental firing. But I believe that some gangsters had killed him.”
Station house officer (SHO) of Jandiala police station, inspector Amolak Singh, who has been investigating the case, said, “After Gurmit Kaur’s complaint, the case was thoroughly investigated by superintendent of police (Sp-investigation), Amandeep Kaur on the direction of senior superintendent of police (SSP) Vikramjit Singh Duggal. The case has been registered after investigation.”
After Satinderpal’s death, the then Ssp-rural Parampal Singh, had said that the SI was a brave police officer who had controlled crime in the Jandiala Guru area to a great extent.
