Dera Baba Nanak set to get 30K pilgrims daily
DERABABANANAK: The city is all set to witness the convergence of a whopping 30,000 pilgrims a day for four days. To accommodate the many who will be coming from distant lands, a sprawling 30-acres well-equipped tented city will host 3,500 people a day.
This city within a city will welcome guests in a manner befitting the historic occasion of Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary celebrations, with its 544 European style tents, 100 Swiss cottages and 20 Darbar style accommodations. Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh expressed his satisfaction at the arrangements.
The main pandal can accommodate the 30,000 pilgrims expected to converge here every day of from November 8 to 11, 2019. The langar hall, with its modern kitchen, is designed to serve 1,500 persons at a time. An RO, with a 1000-litre per hour capacity will ensure safe drinking water for all, while four 125 KV generator sets will provide uninterrupted power supply, an official said.
The tent city project, developed at ₹4.2 crores and can accommodate 3,544 persons in total. Similar accommodations have been provided for police officers and officials. Other features include a registration room, a joda ghar, a cloak room, a VIP lounge and a fire station.
CM LAUNCHES VERKA’S NATURAL VANILLA MILK
Chief minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday launched the Pio natural vanilla milk in 200ml tetra pack and premium chelated mineral mixture.
The CM along with cooperation minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa unveiled the products which are being manufactured and packed at Milkfed’s units at Chandigarh and Ghania-ke-bangar, respectively.
Randhawa said Milkfed Punjab came into existence to ensure remunerative prices to dairy farmers, coupled with the need to provide quality milk products at reasonable prices. It now has 5700 milk producers’ cooperative societies, with nearly 3.20 lakh farmer members.
