4 booked for duping youth on job pretext

HISAR: The Hisar police have booked four persons for allegedly duping two youths on the pretext of providing them jobs with the Haryana police.

Two of the accused have been identified as Pawan Kumar and Praveen Kumar. Their two accomplices are yet to be identified.

Complainant Ram Mehra of Muana village of Jind told the police that two of his relatives were preparing for police service and as the Haryana government announced police recruitment in year 2018, the accused Pawan Kumar, a resident of Narwana of Jind, called them and said he could get them jobs in the Haryana police if they paid him ₹12 lakh.

A few days later, the complainant and his two relatives handed over the money to the accused who further took them to a Hisarbased person, identified as Praveen Kumar. However, when the list of police was out, the complainant’s relatives did not find their names on the list and contacted Praveen and Pawan, who again assured that their name will be announced on the VIP list.

When there was no name on any list, the accused took them to Delhi where they met an unidentified person who introduced himself as an officer on special duty (OSD) to Haryana CM and another unidentified person. But the complainant soon realised they have been duped and lodged a police complaint. A case under Section 420 (fraud) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code was registered.

THE ACCUSED HAD DEMANDED ₹12 LAKH FROM THE YOUTH FOR GETTING THEM JOBS IN HARYANA POLICE
