ROHTAK/CHANDIGARH:HARYANA deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala on Sunday said states should refrain from playing a blame game on the issue of stubble burning, which he claimed was not the only reason behind the rise in air pollution.

Speaking to mediapersons here, he said the state has reported only 6,700 cases of stubble burning, while neighbouring Punjab has witnessed nearly 70,000 such cases.

“Stubble burning is not the only factor responsible for deteriorating the air quality in national capital region and beyond,” he added.

He said that a committee has been formed to formulate the common minimum programme.

Hitting out at former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Dushyant asked him to raise public issues instead of sitting in dining room. “Before the assembly polls, Hooda was confident of coming back to power, but his party was reduced to 31 seats. Now, instead of dreaming about power, he should come out and work towards public issues,” he added.

Speaking to reporters in Sonepat, he again targeted Hooda, saying the opposition was not performing its duty properly.

“People have elected Hooda as an opposition leader. Therefore, he should play the role of strong opposition,” he said.

‘ALL HTET EXAM CENTRES SAW FULL ATTENDANCE’

Dushyant Chautala said conducting Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) successfully in all districts was the first achievement of the new BJP-JJP government. In a press statement, he said this time, candidates did not have to go for exams outside their districts and there was 100% attendance at all the examination centres.

Only three candidates were found absent in one district, he added.

He said the practice of removing the ornaments of women candidates before entering the examination centre has also been abolished.

The deputy CM said the BJPJJP government in Haryana was strong and in the coming days, the promises which were made in the manifestos of both the parties will be fulfilled.

He said during the first meeting of the full cabinet on Monday, necessary steps will be taken on every issue.

Meanwhile, Haryana home minister Anil Vij on Sunday met BJP national working president JP Nadda in Delhi. This was Vij’s first meeting with Nadda after becoming the home minister.
