Space missions are journeys to space for a specific reason to get scientific information. Humans are keen to explore space to get answers to thousands of their questions. It helps us discover new truths about our planet and the universe. Scientists are looking for other planets that support life. Space exploration is also important to understand the possible risks we face as humans. The launching of a satellite into space helps find raw material deposits on other planets which can be used to make our life easier. For instance, Chandrayaan-2 was sent to get information about the surface of the moon recently.
There are several asteroids and comets which can cause disasters but with the help of space missions we can prepare for these disasters and save
Earth. Such missions help people get employment which in turn helps improve the economy of the country. Many countries invest their resources together for a common goal.
On the other hand, space missions also have few disadvantages. They are risky enterprises. For example, a visit to space or the training process may lead to injury or death of astronauts or of the entire team. Radiations can cause illness and accidents. Space missions are not easy. Till 2018, 18 astronauts had lost their lives. Each space mission costs billions of dollars. The heavy amount of fuel causes pollution. The trash created by the missions is harmful for future ventures. Overall, space missions though dangerous are necessary for the advancement of mankind.
