Flying in an airplane sure won’t be the same after a two-month-long shutdown. Many measures have been put in place to ensure safety of passengers, who on their part, are also taking extra care.

Take for instance fashion designer Mansi Agarwal, who plans to travel from Bengaluru to her home town Jaipur, says she’s going to dress up as if going “for a battle”, adding, “It makes more sense to wear jackets or scarves that can be removed easily and sanitised at the entrance of the house. I will armour myself with a face shield, a mask and disposable gloves.’’

Mansij Asthana, an aspiring actor, plans to travel light. “I’m planning to travel with just one carry-on luggage, so I don’t have to stand in the queue for checkin!” he says.

Many airlines have asked their employees to use all protective measures. “Since many pilots and crew members are worried about contracting the disease, personal protection kits will definitely allay a lot of fears in our minds,” says Preity, a flight attendant.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has also ordered for fliers to be at the airport two hours prior to boarding.

Yogesh Rathore, a travel agent, says Covid-19 will definitely change the way we commute via air. “With resumption of flights, and eventually other forms of transport, people may want to start travelling again with ample precautions in place. Among them is primarily the need to avoid crowded locations,” he says.
