Govt to bring 5 bills in monsoon session to replace ordinances
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government will bring five bills, including the Punjab Clinical Establishment (Registration and Regulation) Bill 2020, in the upcoming monsoon session on August 28 to replace the ordinances.
The state cabinet led by chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday approved the draft bills relating to regulation of private clinical establishments, temporary release of some prisoners amid the Covid pandemic, control of drugs dispensation by private de-addiction centres, industrial disputes and child labour to replace the ordinances promulgate earlier. The Punjab Clinical Establishment (Registration and Regulation) Ordinance, 2020 was promulgated to bring the clinical establishments under a regulatory mechanism to ensure that there is more transparency in their functioning.
The cabinet has approved amendment to the Punjab Substance use Disorder Treatment and Counselling and Rehabilitation
Centres Rules 2011 to enable the health department to control the private de-addiction centres in order to avoid misuse of drugs.
GST (AMENDMENT) BILL TO BE INTRODUCED
The cabinet also approved the proposal for introduction of the
Punjab Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2020 for simplification of provisions and processes to levy and collect taxes. It will not only ensure simplifications of provisions and processes but also make it more userfriendly, an official spokesperson said.
NOD TO LAW UNIVERSITY AT TARN TARAN
The cabinet paved the way for the establishment of a law university in the border district of Tarn Taran to commemorate the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur. The cabinet approved the ‘Sri Guru Teg Bahadur State University of Law Bill, 2020’ for presentation in the forthcoming session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
428 MEDICAL OFFICERS’ POSTS TO BE FILLED
The cabinet approved filling up of 428 regular vacancies of medical officers (specialists) on urgent basis. It also gave ex-post facto approval to 107 posts already filled up for six specialities. The recruitment, to be undertaken in the health department, would be done by a special selection committee headed by Dr KK Talwar through walk-in-interview, an official spokesperson said after the cabinet meeting. The posts for which the post-facto approval has been okayed form part of ongoing recruitment process for 323 medical officers (specialists). s
