Haryana sees 22 deaths, 2,289 fresh infections

CHANDIGARH: Haryana on Saturday recorded 22 deaths and 2,289 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 74,272, as per the health bulletin.

The death toll in the state has also risen to 781. Three persons each died due to the virus in Panchkula and Kurukshetr­a, two each in Gurugram, Ambala, Karnal, Hisar and Yamunanaga­r and one each in Rohtak, Palwal, Bhiwani, Sirsa Fatehabad and Kaithal.

Also, 10 districts of the state accounted for about 78% fresh infections on Saturday. While four districts recorded over 200 cases each, six districts reported over 100 cases each. The districts with over 200 new cases are Faridabad (284), Gurugram (265), Karnal (238) and Panipat (226). Those with 100 or more cases are Ambala (160), Panchkula (142), Rohtak (132), Sonepat (125), Hisar (112) and Kurukshetr­a (100). Substantia­l number of positive cases were also reported from Yamunanaga­r (73), Kaithal (68) and Mahenderga­rh and Fatehabad (59 each).

As per the health bulletin, as many as 1,409 more patients have been cured, taking the total number of recoveries to 58,580. Active cases in state stood at 14,911.

Five districts with over 1,000 active cases—gurugram (1,519), Karnal (1,403), Panipat (1,282), Panchkula (1,171) and Faridabad (1,034)—accounted for about 42% of the total active cases.

The recovery rate dropped to 78.87 % and the fatality rate stood at 1.05%. The bulletin said there were 241 critically ill patients including 39 on ventilator support.
