17 deaths, 1,270 cases in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: Haryana on Friday reported 17 deaths and 1,270 fresh coronaviru­s infections, as per the medical bulletin. The death toll has reached 1,705 and the tally of positive cases is now 1,55,765.

Of the 17 fatalities, three each were from Faridabad and Hisar, two each from Gurugram and Bhiwani, one each from Karnal, Palwal, Jhajjar, Kurukshetr­a, Fatehabad, Kaithal and Jind. Gurugram (351), Faridabad (188) and Hisar (125) yet again registered the highest number of new cases. Also, 1,180 more patients have been cured, taking overall recoveries to 1,43,978. The active cases stand at 10,082. The bulletin said there were 196 critically ill patients including 35 on ventilator support.

Virus claims 12 more lives in J& K, toll 1,424

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 12 deaths and 586 fresh coronaviru­s infections. The death toll has reached 1,424 and the total number of positive cases in the Union territory are 90,752.

Officials said 380 people tested positive in Kashmir and 206 in Jammu. Of the 12 fatalities, eight were in Kashmir and four in Jammu division.

Himachal’s Covid-19 tally crosses 20,000

DHARAMSHAL­A: Himachal Pradesh’s Covid- 19 tally crossed 20,000-mark with the hill-state recording 196 fresh infections on Friday. The tally stood at 20,040

The death toll mounted to 280 as one more patient succumbed to the virus in Kullu district.

Of the new cases, 42 were recorded in Shimla, 36 in Mandi, 34 in Kullu, 21 in Hamirpur, 17 in Sirmaur, 14 in Kangra, 11 in Solan, 8 in Kinnaur, 7 in Chamba, three in Una, two in Bilaspur and one in Lahaul-spiti.

There are 2,620 active cases in the state. The overall recoveries have reached 17,113 as 196 more patients have been cured. The recovery rate is currently above 85%.

With 3,513 cases, Solan remains the worst affected district followed by Kangra with 2,850 infections .
