PROBE ORDERED INTO GOVT LAND ENCROACHMENT IN HARYANA
CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government on Thursday ordered an inquiry into encroachment of vast expanses of government land in Sirsa and Fatehabad.
Financial commissioner (revenue) Sanjeev Kaushal in an order directed the DCS of two districts to conduct an extensive inquiry into the matter and submit report within a fortnight.
“Hundreds of acres of land were acquired by the Haryana government for establishment of brick kilns at the time of construction of Bhakra canal and related structures. After the canals were built, these brick kilns were not put to any use and the land in question measuring hundreds of acres, owned by the state, was encroached by encroachers or earlier landowners. It is learnt that fraudulent activities have also been carried out in the name of these lands,’’ he said.
