The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Saturday announced that all oxygen tankers would be exempted from paying toll across the country.

“Keeping in view the current unprecedented demand for medical oxygen across the country due to Covid-19 pandemic, containers carrying liquid medical oxygen will be treated at par with other emergency vehicles such as ambulances for a period of two months or till further orders,” the NHAI said.

NHAI officials in Gurugram said that they have already dedicated two lanes at Kherki

Daula toll plaza, where the oxygen tankers cross the toll without any hindrance. The Gurugram police has also deployed police personnel at the toll plaza to ensure that tankers move without getting stuck, said officials.
