A five-member special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the recovery of 3,000 vials of remdesivir and cefoperazone, suspected to be fake, from Bhakra canal.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Akhil Chaudhary said Sp-rank officer Ankur Gupta will head the SIT, which will help in coordination with the drug control department.

The SSP added the team raided the location of marketing address written on label of cefoperazone vial and found it closed.

“The owner of the property was contacted, who further informed that Haryana Police had also checked the place in search of an accused of an FIR registered there,” said the police. The SSP said one team was sent to Himachal Pradesh while another team is working to trace the vehicle which took the supply of these vials using batch number.

“We have also directed the drug control officer to send the samples of these vials for lab test to know if these are fake,” he said.
