EC needs to be proactive

With Covid cases in Punjab making a new spike every day after relative control over infections for the past seven months, the Election Commission of India (ECI) might need to take a decision on the assembly polls. Whatever form that decision might take, it needs to have empirical data to back it up. With compliance with Covid norms a bit of a hit and a miss, human life is also at stake. Virtual campaigning will also need to be considered

after consultation with all political parties.
