Executive, judiciary should work together
This is with reference to the editorial, Chief Justice Ramana is right (HT, May 2).There were mainly three issues at the Joint Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts, which was presided over by the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India on Saturday. The three points are enhancing the judicial infrastructure both in terms of judges according to population ratio and physical infrastructure; enabling the common man to access justice by simplifying the legal language and increasing the use of local language in the judicial process; and humanising the law by granting bail to lakhs of undertrials. The aim is to reduce the burden on the judiciary and it will become possible when the executive and judiciary work together. Satish Sharma Majra Kaithal
