Strict measures needed to check communal violence
According to the editorial “Quell the rise of communal tension” (HT, May 4), the steep rise in the incidents of communal violence that the country witnessed in the recent past is indeed worrying. The recurring three incidents of communal clashes that took place in Rajasthan in the recent past over certain trivial religious issues are a cause of concern. A similar incident had rocked Patiala in Punjab, prompting the police to impose a curfew to rein in the seething hatred spreading across the country. To stem the burgeoning sectarian violence, the dispensation needs to go the hardest possible way to take on those hell-bent on destroying the cosmopolitan fabric of the country.
