JET AIRWAYS GETS SECURITY NOD FROM GOVT
The Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) has granted security clearance to the new management of Jet Airways, paving the way for the airline’s relaunch after closure in 2019 owing to financial constraints, people familiar with the development said Sunday. The decision has been conveyed by the civil aviation ministry to the new promoters of the airline, people quoted above said.
Jalan-kalrock Consortium is currently the promoter of the Jet Airways. The airline was earlier owned by Naresh Goyal and had operated its last flight on April 17, 2019.
The airline conducted its test flight from Hyderabad on Thursday after takeover by new promoters.
In a communication to the airline on May 6, the civil aviation ministry said: “It is directed to refer to your application to convey security clearance for change in shareholding pattern of the company/ firm, for scheduled operator permit, on the basis of security clearance received from the ministry of home affairs.”
Can be withdrawn in the light of adverse inputs
The ministry said the security clearance can, however, be withdrawn in the light of any adverse inputs.
The decision and contents of letter were confirmed to HT by a senior government official. The DGCA will now grant air operator certificate depending on the test flight results.
