Erring Haryana IG should be dismissed

-

This refers to the report, Panel pushes for Haryana IG Hemant Kalson’s premature retirement (HT, May 10). It was unfortunate to hear that an inspector general rank Haryana Police officer was roaming free even after having recurring run-ins with the law. The state government owes an explanation as to how this controversial police officer at the helm was allowed to continue with his present stint even after being allegedly involving in serial offences, including house trespass and abusing a staff at a government hospital. This wayward officer has earned disgrace for the entire police force by throwing the paramount service norms to the wind. The least punishment he deserves is dismissal, which would act as a deterrent for others of his ilk.
