Sedition law rightly on hold for review

-

The sedition law had become more of a tool to settle political scores than to safeguard national interest. The Supreme Court has rightly put it on hold and asked the government to review it. The Centre’s decision to reexamine it is a step in the right direction. There are set norms to use any law, but all political parties, when in power, use these laws as per their convenience not realising that they will also meet the same fate when in opposition. Any law when used as per whims and fancies of an individual or political party’s interest should be reviewed to add provisions to stop its misuse.
