The melody, rhyme, and power of poetry
This refers to Jeet Thayil’s Chronicling the growth of English poetry in India (May 8). As an admirer of good poetry, what I’ve learnt is that often the contribution of poets is often lost in a country’s rich history. Their work stitches together the past through melody and rhyme, and transports us back to places of their imagination.
