The girl’s body is found in a cowshed in the village. Post-mortem examination confirms rape
May 7:
SC transfers trial from Kathua to Pathankot after the victim’s family says they are being threatened.
Jan 19:
The J&K govt orders a magisterial probe into the case. The govt says Shubham Sangra, who claimed to be a minor, has been held. Medical board states that he was 19-23 years old at the time of the crime
Mar 10:
Protests erupt in Kathua over the incident
Mar 20:
Retd revenue official and Sangra’s uncle Sanji Ram surrenders after his son is also arrested in the case. In total, eight people are arrested
