No check on private schools
The Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions Act 2016 was enacted to provide speedy justice to parents and to regulate profiteering by private schools. The fee regulatory bodies were formed at district levels but these bodies have failed to deliver justice within sixty days and instead are not even hearing complaints for several months. This has led to schools exploiting the students with arbitrary fee hikes and profiteering. There is a need to streamline the working of these bodies and to ensure that they follow the Fee Act, 2016 in letter and spirit. Rakesh Pandey
