Six killed in crash on Mumbai-pune e-way

Six people were killed and two others were critically wounded in a late-night accident on the Mumbai-pune Expressway, police officials said. A total of nine people were travelling in a car which appeared to have crashed into a parked truck at around 11.40pm. One passenger sustained minor injuries. All passengers, who police officials suspect were hitchhikers, had boarded the car individually from Pimpri and Chinchwad areas in Pune and were headed towards Mumbai, police officials said. “The car does not have tourist permit and if it is found that the car was regularly used to give lift to passengers to earn money, we would take legal action accordingly,” another police officer said.
