Lot of issues stopping docs from joining govt service
The intentions of the AAP government are good to improve and revamp public health care in Punjab, but the policy is directionless. That is why only 592 doctors have applied for 634 posts apropos (Health dept paves way for new cadre to woo specialist doctors: dated 18.11.22), an HT report. How the government will recruit the teaching faculty for the 16 planned medical colleges or ‘Mohalla Clinics’? I am sure that doctors are not joining the government services because of low pay packages, poor working conditions, bureaucratic interferences etc and unless the government takes care of these concerns, public health care will further deteriorate.
