Youth exodus should concern India

-

The unabated mass exodus of youths to developed countries to pursue higher education or seek menial jobs is a matter of grave concern since parents fall into debt traps or have to dispose of their property to arrange for funds. Desperation for a medical degree (MBBS) is so intense that youth from Punjab have returned to war-torn Ukraine. These degrees cost about ₹1 crore, yet not even 20% of them qualify for the medical screening test. One wonders why medical education is not being expanded in our country. Proper planning and a proper migration policy need to be crafted to set things right.
