Fresh restrictions in Beijing after record Covid cases

The Chinese capital reported a new record number of Covid cases and two more deaths on Tuesday as authorities shut down parks, office buildings and shopping malls, moving the city’s most populous Chaoyang district closer to a full lockdown and urging residents not to venture out unless necessary. Authorities identified over 1,400 cases in Beijing for Monday with 783 infections detected in Chaoyang alone.
