Rewriting history

-

The news, ICHR launches project to rewrite India’s history (HT, November 22), is heartening. This long overdue project was delayed due to the idea of Nehruvian secularism imposed by the Congress that ruled the country for much of the period since 1947. First, the Muslim invaders and later the British rulers vandalised Indian history to demoralise native Indians and strengthen their stranglehold. Indians were forced to read history dictated by outsiders. Marxist historians propagated the narrative written by western historians, glorifying invaders and obscuring real Indian history. The rewritten history will throw light on our glorious past and help in restoring our lost national self-respect. AK Sharma Chandigarh
