Fresh clip from Tihar shows housekeeping at Jain’s cell
A new video that appeared to show housekeeping services being provided inside Delhi minister Satyendar Jain’s prison cell at Tihar jail was widely circulated on social media platforms on Sunday.
This is the fourth such video (purported CCTV footage from his jail cell) to be leaked in less than 10 days. The footage was dated September 13, 15 and October 1 and showed men sweeping the floor of the jail cell and arranging the minister’s bed.
The video prompted another war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over allegations of special treatment to Jain in jail.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal also hit back at the BJP and called the party a “videomaking company”.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal of converting Tihar Jail into a “five-star resort with room service”.
Kejriwal hit back at the BJP, calling BJP a video-making company. “BJP’S new guarantee to the people of Delhi - will open video shop in every ward. BJP is a video-making company,” he tweeted in Hindi.
Meanwhile, the BJP alleged that videos and information about Jain are being leaked by people of the party who are close to Kejriwal. Calling this a “serious affair” BJP nationaal spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “These videos and information reaching us are not being provided by prison officials. These are being provided by their (AAP) own and people close to Kejriwal.”
No immediate reaction was available from the AAP on the BJP’S allegation.
Jain, formerly Delhi’s health minister, has been lodged in Tihar jail since May 31 this year in a money-laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
