China’s zero-covid policy will backfire

This is with reference to the editorial, China’s Covid-19 plan isn’t good for anyone (HT, November 29). There is no denying the fact that the protests in China have put President Xi Jinping in a worrisome position as protests against his zero-covid policy are spreading in Shanghai, Nanjing and Beijing. People the world over have learnt to live with the virus and lifted curbs, but China is using strong measures that are proving to be counterproductive.
